On May 30 - June 2, 2012, the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals held NACCAP 2012, More Than A Conference at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. The conference's theme was Imagine. Impact. Ignite. to remind attendees why they do what they do.
The purpose of the conference according to conference.naccap.org was, "to provide opportunities for team-building, professional development and personal and spiritual growth."
Along with attending sessions and listening to speakers, three awards are given out. According to the NACCAP Tribune those receiving the awards are, "individuals that have been nominated by their peers for outstanding working for the cause of Christian education."
Three awards given out were Admissions Officer of the Year, Graduate and Adult Professional of the Year and Guidance Professional of the Year. Among these winners was California Baptist University's Online and Professional Studies Dean of Enrollment, Ted Meyer.
Meyer received the award for Graduate and Professional of the Year because he had been nominated by CBU's Dean of Graduate Enrollment, Gail Ronveaux.
"Ted embodies the concept of Graduate and Adult Professions: earning a bachelor's and master's degree while working full time re-inventing himself after 20 years in the same industry and making a difference in his new calling/vocation," Ronveaux said. "I believe Ted will continue to positively impact Christian higher education in general and the GAP sphere in particular, for many years to come, not just at CBU, but wherever he serves the Lord."
Winners are nominated by a member of NACCAP through a written narrative of 250 words or less that is sent to Executive Director, Chant Thompson and The Board for a vote.
"I was very surprised and honored to receive an award at this conference," Meyer said.
