Kinesiology can open a path to many great careers such as a physical therapist, physical education instructor, sports manager, massage therapist, exercise physiologist or a chiropractic physician. Our courses are offered to athletic enthusiasts, those who wish to start a career in kinesiology, or those seeking to reach their professional and personal goals that may have been started, but never finished.

Kinesiology students will not only learn the foundations of kinesiology, but also obtain a marketable set of skills employers today seek. Through CBU's Online and Professional Studies program, students will learn how to effectively integrate their faith, ethics, and Christian morals into the work-place. By completing an online bachelor's degree in kinesiology, students will be recognized as excellent candidates for graduate programs in kinesiology, athletic training, and other areas of advanced study.

Career Highlight: Chiropractic Physician

Graduates of California Baptist University's Online and Professional Studies Kinesiology Bachelor's Degree Program have the opportunity to live their purpose and pursue a career path in a variety of professions or pursue graduate studies. Amongst the Kinesiology degree path, one of its most prominent career choices includes becoming a Chiropractic Physician. In order to become a chiropractic physician a bachelor’s degree must be obtained, a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), as well as licensure. Licensure includes passing a four part test administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Chiropractic physician’s work can be a mix of routine tasks including applying research and proven techniques to treat patients with health problems within the musculoskeletal system, such as bone, muscle, ligament, or tendon problems. Although Chiropractors work with nerve, muscle, and joint disorders, they tend to mainly focus on pelvic and spinal abnormalities. Some of the conditions chiropractors deal with include back, neck, upper and lower extremity pain, and headaches. Chiropractic physicians are often considered for alternatives to surgery because they offer patients a conservative and natural method of healing without the use of drugs or surgery. So incorporating the use of techniques like spinal manipulations/adjustments, spinal decompression, soft tissue therapy, traction, shock therapy, and dry needling which is similar to acupuncture into their practice to help relieve patients with clinical or chronic conditions in a conservative manner. Chiropractic physicians are most known for correcting and progressing mobility while reducing pain, and they have a great background of skill sets in diagnostics, observations, and communication.

Chiropractic physician’s today have vast opportunities for career advancement, whether in public or private practices, hospitals, or nursing homes. According to a recent research study by the U.S.. Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2010-2020 there will be an increase of about 28% roughly about 14,900 Chiropractic physician’s to accommodate the required needs of American healthcare demands. A large portion of new opportunities for chiropractors will partly be due to the aging of the large baby boom generation, which is likely to develop or experience musculoskeletal or joint problems.

The average American makes around $40,000 a year, whereas the average Chiropractic physician’s salary makes around $79,000 a year, roughly $38.00 per hour. Along with great pay you may also be entitled to certain benefits such as social security, 401k/ 401b, disability, healthcare, pension, or time off.

Graduates looking to pursue a career as a Chiropractic physician should exhibit the ability to diagnose, observe, and communicate, as well as being efficient with medical database software and being familiar with patient files. When dealing with one’s health a huge amount of effort in all that you do is mandatory to your overall success, so one must have a strong desire to serve the sick in offering alternative methods to surgery.  It all starts with your Bachelor degree in Kinesiology.
