Bachelor of Arts in Political Science
From Passion to Profession
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Degree Completion Program (DCP) at California Baptist University prepares students to transform their passion for politics into professional opportunities. By earning a B.A. in Political Science at CBU, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to create, implement and evaluate public policy and to become engaged citizens of their community, country and the world.
Balanced Curriculum
The Political Science DCP at CBU offers a balanced curriculum that serves as a solid educational foundation for students interested in pursuing a career in public service, teaching, and non-profit organizations or attending law school or another graduate program. Students develop a broad understanding of political processes, government systems, and public policy from historical and current as well as domestic and international perspectives.
Marketable Skills
Students also emerge from the program with skill sets employers from the private and public sectors actively seek. Rigorous and relevant coursework challenges and motivates students to strengthen their verbal and written skills, critical thinking processes, and ability to choose and defend positions on the important issues of today. Students are taught not what to think, but how to critically think for themselves.
Public Administration Concentration
The Political Science DCP at CBU offers students the opportunity to graduate with a concentration in Public Administration. Specialized courses prepare students to serve the public good in an administrative capacity at a government agency or non-profit organization or to pursue a Master of Public Administration.
Interactive and Faith-Based
Led by faculty dedicated to Christian values as well as to their students’ success, small classrooms provide interactive environments in which students can expand their knowledge and examine their own beliefs. Keeping with CBU’s faith-based mission, classes are taught from a Christian perspective that emphasizes the ethical component of political science and public policy.
