What is Sociology?
The Sociology major prepares students for employment in social service and for graduate school in Sociology and Social Work. The program is based on the traditional emphasis of institutions, collective behavior and the socialization process. The program provides the core foundation for understanding the social structure and its patterns, stressing the influence of systems, and highlighting issues and policy necessary for completing a graduate program in social work.
