What is a Master of Business Administration?

The purpose of the MBA program is to develop highly skilled and practical business leaders who are committed to making profitable and ethical contributions to the organizations in which they serve and lead.

The MBA program is designed to take students through a journey that embraces personal, professional, and spiritual transformation centered on a learning approach that combines theory and application. Students graduating from the MBA program will be equipped to address complex business issues in a dynamic business environment. In addition, students will leave the program with an expanded capacity to self-reflect, think critically, lead and engage others, manage change, and make effective decisions.

The primary objective of the MBA program is to provide graduate students with a Christ-centered business education that is rigorous and designed to prepare students to effectively lead organizations, implement change, and manage business affairs with conviction and in a manner that is honoring to God.

Designed for Working Professionals

CBU's MBA program is uniquely designed for working professionals seeking to develop technical skills and leadership competencies. Offering both online and hybrid courses, students can complete coursework around their own schedule. A master's degree in business administration from CBU will increase opportunities for career advancement, improve professional competencies, and develop interdisciplinary skills. 

Interactive Distance Learning

With small, interactive classes, MBA students receive individual attention from dedicated instructors while also learning from the diverse experiences and perspectives of fellow scholars. This intimate setting fosters an environment that encourages students to develop interpersonal and team-building skills, while also developing professional networks and supportive relationships. Emphasizing experiential learning through practical application of theory, MBA coursework incorporates rigorous assignments based on case studies derived from real-world scenarios as well as relevant and contemporary literature. 

Through the use of new, innovative distance learning tools, the online experience becomes more than just reading a syllabus and completing coursework. Online learning through CBU's accredited distance learning program provides an interactive learning environment where students can be involved and invested in the learning process.

Throughout classes and coursework students analyze real-world scenarios, in which case-study approaches are employed to illustrate the connections between coursework and the workplace. Recreating the boardroom in the classroom, courses challenge students to think, react, and function like managers. Graduate studies culminate in a capstone business strategy experience, in which students work in teams using advanced business simulation exercises to develop solutions and apply decision making techniques to realistic workplace scenarios.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The highest ranking organizational officer responsible for managing the overall organization and reporting to the Board of Directors and/or owners.

Primarily responsible for financial planning, reporting and record-keeping of the organization.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The COO is typically responsible for monitoring and improving an organization’s daily activities and reporting to the CEO. The COO may also be an executive or senior vice president.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.00 for unconditional admission and a minimum 2.5 GPA for conditional admission. Applicants are considered based on a combination of GPA, management or professional work experience, and GMAT score. 
  • Applicants with significant work experience or a high GPA may not need to submit GMAT score. 
  • Successful interview with the Director of the MBA Program
