Program Design

CBU's Master of Science in Education Specialization in Online Teaching and Learning (MSE-OTL) program is uniquely designed for working professionals seeking to develop knowledge, technical skills and leadership competencies. A Master's degree in Education with a specialization in Online Teaching and Learning from CBU will increase opportunities to enter the fast growing field of instructional design and technology as well as support career advancement.

Mary Crist, Ed.D., Professor of Education
Mary Crist, Ed.D., Professor of Education

With small, interactive classes, MSE-OTL students receive individual attention from dedicated instructors while also learning from the diverse experiences and perspectives of fellow scholars. This intimate setting fosters an environment that encourages students to develop interpersonal and team-building skills, while also developing professional networks and supportive relationships. Emphasizing experiential learning through practical application of theory, MSE coursework incorporates rigorous assignments based on case studies derived from real-world scenarios as well as relevant and contemporary literature.

Through the use of new, innovative distance learning tools, the online experience becomes more than just reading a syllabus and completing coursework. Online learning through CBU's accredited distance learning program provides an interactive learning environment where students can be involved and invested in the learning process.

Why Continue your Education?

Every organization offers training to its employees, but in the past, it has been offered face-to-face. Today online training cuts travel costs and makes training accessible 24:7. Therefore, the demand for online teaching and learning is growing. As it does, experts in instructional design and technology are needed to develop new programs and to redesign existing programs for online delivery.  Specialized faculty members are needed to teach online.  Online specialists need initial training as they advance.   With a Master of Science in Education and a Specialization in Online Teaching and Learning, CBU students will leave the program prepared to enter the field as well as to advance in it.
