The Bachelor of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology is comprised of eight-week courses designed for the online environment. This is a process-based writing class that focuses on academic writing, reading, and critical thinking as expressed in expository and analytical writing assignments through 5 to 7 substantial essays over the course of the semester. Develops fluency, coherence, style, effectiveness, and literary analysis. Students must pass this course with a C- or better or demonstrate a comparable level of writing competence to fulfill general competency requirements and to proceed to ENG 123 - Intermediate Composition. Psychology of Performance Recovery
This focus of this course is on addressing the practice of psychological issues and cognitive variables that may hinder oneâ??s performance recovery. The complex psychological nature of recovery, both physical and cognitive, whether from injury or psychological distress, will be discussed. Consistent with the University student outcomes, upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology degree, graduates will be able to:
1. Identify and describe core concepts related to the field of sport and performance psychology.
2. Examine sport and performance psychology consulting techniques.
3. Identify and describe cognitive and behavioral theories/models related to sport and exercise psychology.
4. Differentiate how personal and professional practices impact diversity and cultural norms.
5. Explore the role of ethics pertaining to the field of sport and performance psychology.
