Overview

The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) is a STEM approved program for students with a bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or significant professional experience. The program is designed to prepare professionals in the field to address 21st century challenges. The online M.S. in Information Technology Management degree will best serve students who have a bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as Computer Information Technology, Network Administration and Management, Cybersecurity, or other technology related fields. The fully online program provides students with the competencies and skillset to create and maintain a competitive edge in today’s rapidly changing and highly aggressive Information Technology (IT) environment.

Coursework for the online Master of Science in Information Technology Management degree program will develop and advance student understanding of IT strategies, business management techniques, and key management and leadership skills and tools employers are looking for in leaders. Upon completion, graduates will be prepared to enter management level jobs that offer better benefits and higher salaries. Specific areas of study include organizational leadership, conflict resolution, project management, information systems and security infrastructure, emerging technology, disaster recovery and planning, and law and ethics in information technology.

Throughout the Master of Science in Information Technology Management degree program, students will develop key competencies and skills that industry leaders are demanding of mid and upper-level managers. The faculty at CBU bring a diverse breadth of knowledge and experience to the classroom and constantly emphasize connecting theory to practice. The online M.S. in Information Technology Management degree program teaches students how to navigate the ever-changing industry and how to immediately apply highly relevant information in the field of information technology management.

Consistent with the University student outcomes, upon completion of the Master of Science  Information Technology Management degree, graduates will be able to:

  1. Apply concepts and perspectives on organizational leadership, multi-disciplinary perspectives, and leadership models to actual organizational situations.
  2. Apply relevant principles on the design of computer-based information systems to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency in the development and implementation of organizational strategy and the control and evaluation of organizational activities.
  3. Demonstrate necessary skills to resolving conflict by applying conflict analysis models, tools and processes.
  4. Demonstrate competency in the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet project requirements.
  5. Demonstrate competency in the application of knowledge, skills, techniques, and tools in the domain of information technology security.
  6. Demonstrate competency in the application of knowledge, skills, techniques, and tools in the domain of information systems infrastructure.
  7. Identify and evaluate the acceptance and adoption of technology within various types of organizational cultures.
  8. Plan and execute industry best practices related to conducting organization-wide information assurance initiatives.
  9. Participate in the legal analysis of relevant cyberlaws and address governance, standards, policies, and legislation.

This course focuses on the relationships of individuals and groups within the organizational framework as it involves the nature, performance, and structure of organizational life. Information Technology Management Capstone

This course provides the opportunity to integrate knowledge and demonstrate skills obtained throughout the program in the form of an enterprise level information systems related project, which involves the analysis of an organization's needs, the development of an information systems architecture, and the project management components needed for successful implementation.
