April 26, 2011 - Riverside, CA

Members of the California Baptist University community saluted the academic and service achievements of more than 30 individuals April 15th in the Van Dyne Gym during the annual Honors Convocation ceremony. Among the awards, “The Outstanding Online & Professional Studies Student Award” is given to the student who has the highest grade point average, with the greatest number of units taken at CBU, and who also exhibits qualities of character and service.

The 2010-11 Outstanding OPS Student award was presented to Diane Mendez.

Dr. Dirk Davis, OPS dean of academics, said this about Diane during the award presentation, “Her Supervisor describes her as compassionate, caring, and selfless. Her professors characterize her as supporting and encouraging to her classmates. Diane has an inquisitive attitude and a keen ability to understand even the most complex concepts. She demonstrates CBU’s mission of Living Your Purpose and does so in a most engaging manner. Diane’s personal achievements include being the mother of two grown children and the wife to husband Nico. While the accolades from her family were numerous, the statement that she “passionately desires to serve the kingdom” was indicative of the caliber of Diane’s character. “
