ASPA Inland Empire Chapter Awards Luncheon Held at CBU


July 19, 2011 - Riverside, CA

The Inland Empire Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (IEASPA) held its annual awards luncheon meeting June 23 at California Baptist University (CBU). David Poole, Vice President of CBU’s Online and Professional Studies (OPS) program, welcomed IEASPA members and announced the university’s Master of Public Administration program is now offered online.

During the meeting, awards were presented to individuals demonstrating excellence in public service. Ron Loveridge, Mayor of the City of Riverside, received the Outstanding Elected Official award, and Dr. Albert Karnig, President of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), was honored as the Outstanding Educator. Temecula City Manager Shawn Nelson received the Outstanding Senior Administrator award, and Alex Najera, County of Riverside HR Analyst II, was named Outstanding Rising Administrator.

Mayor Loveridge spoke of his legacy citing the city’s innovation and strong leadership that has led to improved air quality, revitalization of downtown Riverside, and community projects including Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful.

In addition, four students pursuing graduate degrees in public administration were awarded IEASPA scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000.
