Jacob Avila appointed Assistant Professor of Business Administration

Jacob Avila has been named Assistant Professor of Business Administration at California Baptist University – Online and Professional Studies, effective January 2012.

A Riverside, California resident since 1989, Jacob grew up working in the local, family owned business.  Mr. Avila worked for CA Construction, a general contracting and engineering firm, in many capacities from 1998-2011, most recently as General Manager. Since 1998 Jacob has owned, managed, and consulted for several other businesses including a Mexican restaurant, meal preparation franchises, construction firms, real estate development firms, non-profits, and government agencies. Avila will play a central role in the planning and building of the University's online offerings in Business Administration.


Mr. Avila studied international business at Oxford University in Oxford, United Kingdom and at ITESM in Guadalajara, Mexico.  He received his B.A. degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Pepperdine University and an M.B.A. in Management from California Baptist University.  He is currently working toward his professional doctorate at the Sol Price School of Public Policy of the University of Southern California.  His doctoral study and research focuses on social entrepreneurship and collaborative governance and specifically examines the means by which businesses can work more effectively with government and non-governmental organizations in helping communities rebuild after disasters.

Jacob, his wife and three children reside in the greater Riverside area.
